So here’s a very very delayed update about the final days at our fantastic Garuda retreat in Mykonos.
It was such an amazing feeling when you realised how quickly your body had adapted and been improved by the work we had been doing. Both my mother and I “suffer” from tight neck and shoulder muscles. After class today my mom and I started talking to the lovely Donna of Cobham Pilates about how good we felt after having twisted and turned to really stretch out our backs. Although stretching any other body part feels great too, stretching and moving the spine always gives a bit of a sweeter feeling, leaving you with that uplifted feeling I find. With the very first of Team GB’s 65 Olympic medals being won by cyclist Lizzie Armitstead, what better motivation could there be to pick up this childhood activity again? It’s also incredibly easy to get around on bike now with Boris Bikes stations scattered across the city.

It seems like in the months prior to summer there is no shortage of motivation options available for why you should be hitting the gym/ditching the soda/not eat that sixth donut, the holy grail of it all being that skimpy bikini you intend to strut your stuff in on the beach. So this post really has nothing to do with health and fitness, except for maybe arguing that to be healthy you need to have a healthy mind.
